In the 2025 legislative session, Senator Mary Washington introduced and passed transformative bills to advance justice, protect our environment, and empower Maryland’s communities. Highlights include:

  • Recognizing worker cooperatives as a new business entity to promote shared ownership and wealth-building.

  • Expanding housing access through Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).

  • Strengthening the Cannabis Community Reinvestment Fund, ensuring that reinvestment reaches communities most impacted by the war on drugs.

  • Pushing for environmental justice through enhanced watershed protections.

  • Advocating for women’s prerelease services, ensuring trauma-informed care, and a dedicated reentry facility.
