About the Senatorial Scholarship
The Senatorial Scholarship is a need-based award for students in Maryland’s 43rd District pursuing higher education. The scholarship automatically renews each academic year as long as the student remains enrolled in an eligible institution. More details about the Senatorial Scholarship and other financial aid opportunities can be found on the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) website.

Application Process & Timeline
To ensure your application is processed as quickly as possible, please read all instructions carefully and submit as much information as possible.

• FAFSA Deadline: June 1, 2025

• Priority Application Deadline: June 15, 2025

• Decision Notifications: July 2025

Important Information for Applicants

• Out-of-State Students: If you plan to attend an out-of-state institution, you must complete a Unique Major Application with MHEC and receive approval to qualify for this scholarship.

• FAFSA or MHEC One App Requirement: All applicants must submit a FAFSA by June 1st. If you are not eligible for FAFSA, you must submit an application through the MHEC One App to be considered.

• Automatic Renewal for Current Recipients: If you have received the Senatorial Scholarship in previous academic years, your award renews automatically and cannot be adjusted once the initial award amount is set.
